Reading
I have been fighting with Eli lately over learning letters. He just doesn't want to do it and when I ask him, what letter is this, he usually says "I don't know" so I finally realized that he doesn't know WHY he needs to learn his letters. I told him it is because he will be able to READ books. He is fascinated with this Idea so he is more interested in learning.

I know exactly what you're going through. Camden (who will be in Kindergarten next week) would not learn his letters with me. Every time we'd go over them or do preschool work to help him learn, he'd say he didn't know them or didn't remember them. I was getting so frustrated! I'd get worried too that he had a learning disability or something that was really keeping him from remembering, but then I remembered that he knows every single Thomas train and every detail about them. I figured out that the ABC's just weren't interesting to him. So, now we do things a little differently to learn the ABC's. One thing that has helped to is the LeapFrog Letter Factory DVD. It's amazing! He's learned so much about the ABC's through that DVD. You'll have to check it out!
Oh- Great pictures too!
I don't know if it has to do with being the oldest child or what, but Harrison wanted nothing to do with me helping him with his ABC's, etc. He was so stubborn about it and with wanting to do it all himself, so I just tried to sneak in "learning moments" whenever I could.
Good luck!
